New maps are present. With improved graphics. The difficulty of the champions has been increased. The scenario has been modified, and the Aqua and Magma teams have been merged to make way for a new team! Team Black!

The player embodies a young trainer from Johto whose family has moved to Lamentin, a small town in the Martinique region, so that the father, Norman, can fulfill his duties as champion of the Francois arena. Shortly after his installation, the player meets Professor Seko, in a bad situation since he is pursued by a Zigzagoon. Later, he will learn that a gang called Team Black steals and traffics Pokémon. He will have to stop the boss of this team, win all the badges, and become a Pokémon master!
