Pokemon Ciani Red is a GBA ROM Hack by chrispy97 based on Pokemon Fire Red in English. I had some ideas about rebalancing Pokémon, gyms, trainers, and the like for a while. This here is the result of about a month of hacking into Pokemon Fire Red. This more or less represents a proof of concept for my idea of balancing out Pokémon around having higher pools of health.

Description

I had some ideas about rebalancing Pokémon, gyms, trainers, and the like for a while. This here is the result of about a month of hacking into Pokemon Fire Red. This more or less represents a proof of concept for my idea of balancing out Pokémon around having higher pools of health.

Features

  • Pokémon up to Gen 5 are catchable, with select later-gen Pokémon mixed in for flavor
  • Around 20% of Pokémon have been reworked in stats, movesets, and/or abilities
  • Weaker and gimmick Pokémon are revamped to be fully viable when evolved
  • Health Pools are expanded, and moves are rebalanced to match the new system
  • OHKO moves are reworked into high-damage type-based moves (e.g. Guillotine is now Water-type)
  • Legendary Pokémon received special attention and balancing
  • Every major battle in the game has been redone
  • New trainer added to each Gym as a “protégé” or special challenger
  • Increased battle difficulty requiring strategy, especially for Nuzlocke runs
  • Rare Candies are purchasable in Viridian City to reduce grinding
  • Early game includes useful items to support progression
  • Planned features include signposts on each route showing available wild Pokémon
  • Post-game content centers on the aftermath of the Hoenn Catastrophe and events in the Sevii Islands

Known Bugs

  • There are certain bugs with Gigantamax that I am looking into
