Description

Pokemon Fire Red OK Version is a quality-of-life hack of Pokemon Fire Red and adds features like updated movesets for most Pokémon, Buffs to base stats, harder trainer battles, Rare Candies are purchasable in every Mart, Trade Evos can be evolved using the Link Cable item, some small tweaks to the overworld, and much more!

Are you tired of how bad Pokémon learn sets, trainer teams, and items found in the overworld are in Gen 3? Well, I decided to make my own version of an enhancement rom hack where I improve all previously mentioned and more! So if you want to experience Kanto, where any Pokémon is usable against slightly more difficult trainers, check it out!

Features

  • Gym Leaders/Elite Four teams have been buffed ever so slightly (not too difficult, think of it like the challenge mode in BW2)
  • Trainer Battles across the board have also been buffed similarly, in hopes of providing a bit more variety of Pokémon seen!
  • Encounter Tables have been reworked/updated to increase variety
  • Learnsets of every Pokémon have been reworked/buffed
  • Some Pokémon Types have been changed
  • Pokémon that received evolutions beyond Gen 3 (EX: Tangela, Primeape) get a stat buff
  • All Pokémon that officially received stat buffs from Game Freak get them here
  • Moves have received modern upgrades with some exceptions (Rock Smash = 40 BP)
  • Rare Candies can be bought in all Poke Marts for 1 Pokedollar for easy leveling
  • Evolution Stones and TMs have been placed in the Celadon Department Store
  • Trade Pokémon now evolve via a new item called the Link Cable (this includes cross gen evos like Steelix and Kingdra)
  • Only the original 151 and their cross gen evos are catchable before postgame
  • Link Cable can be found twice in the overworld and is purchasable on Two Island.
  • Some overworld locations have been touched up to improve visual variety in the region.
  • Natures actually tell the player what they are
  • Gym Leaders give 3 copies of TMs now (Except for Giovanni because he’s evil)
  • LT. Surge’s annoying gym puzzle has been removed
  • removed the free Magikarp before Mt. Moon
  • Starters and Eevee can be caught in the Sevii Islands
  • and more!

Changelog

V1.4

  • A few changes to movesets across the board
  • A few trainers have received harder fights (namely, Brock)
  • A few changes to encounter tables across the board
  • Victory Road trainers will actually challenge you now

V1.3

  • Updated movesets for most Pokémon
  • buffs to base stats that Game Freak has made to Pokémon in Gen 6 and 7
  • Buffs to base stats of Pokémon that receive a cross gen evo in the future that they cannot evolve into here (ex: Tangela -> Tangrowth) following this formula [ New BST = Current BST + ((Cross Gen Evo BST – Current BST) / 2) ]
  • No Pokémon types have been changed in an effort to not break from the consistency of the base games
  • Moves have been buffed/debuffed to modern standards with a few exceptions (Leech Life = 50 Base Damage)
  • Trainer Pokemon have higher levels/more evolutions and variety of Pokémon
  • Boss Battles are slightly more difficult than base games
  • Encounter Tables have been rebalanced a bit in an effort to give the player Pokémon they usually miss out on
  • Rare Candies are purchasable in every mart for $1
  • LT. Surge’s gym puzzle has been removed
  • The intended routing of the mid game is now Erika > go to Fuschia using the seaside routes on the east of the region > Koga > Cycling Road route > Silph Co Giovanni > Sabrina
  • The Level Caps are the same except for Koga (38), Giovanni Silph Co Fight (41), and Sabrina (44)
  • The Kanto starters can be found on the Sevii Islands
  • Trade Evos and Cross Gen evos can be evolved using the Link Cable (One is in Silph Co, One is in the Pokémon Mansion, can be bought on Two Island in the Sevii Islands)
  • Some small tweaks have been made to the overworld in an effort to make Fire Red feel a bit new to the player
