Description

Fire Emblem – Sacred Light of Promise is, before anything else, a love letter to FE8, a swansong to refine everything that we’ve both once loved and learnt to appreciate on our time hacking this game. One that has taken us more hours to create than we could count on both hands.

Overall, you can expect this to have quite a more bite than usual FE8, with maps both big and small getting minute and major changes. Hopefully still have that same feel, but greatly improved where they misstep. With the same amount going towards keeping a faithfulness to the original writing, while breathing new life into the underexplored aspects of the game.

Features

Overhauled Weapons

  • Coming with improvements big and small, all to make the play experience shaken up, but still feel at home in regular FE8

Improved Old & New Allies

  • Some of them you may already know, with many basegame units having overwent rigorously tested changes to make them feel more varied and engaging instead of being as plain who is top-tier, while not losing the spirit of why people like them.
  • Not only that, but the once small roster has been expanded, with tons of characters joining the fray. Ranging from the upstanding types you’d expect, to even some of the seedier sort!

Supports, with Paired Endings!

  • Supports as a whole have been quickened a little, and many new joiners have supports. Some with other new joiners, others with established members of the cast to keep them on equal footing to rest. With some all new depth to explore.

Overhauled Music

  • FE8’s tracks are iconic, but we’ve taken the time to introduce new songs, all put in by the talented ArcherBias to give a refreshing new feel to every chapter.
(There’s no good way to visualize this one, so you’ll just have to trust my word haha)

Secrets for all!

  • While none of these will completely shake up the game, we’ve done our dues to provide varied hidden events in many maps. Some in places you’d think to check, and others more hidden, some of which may even be reflected in-narrative.

A Special Postgame Challenge

  • For anyone who makes it to postgame, a challenge greater than the Demon King or the Lagdou Ruins awaits…With an incredibly special reward if you win.

Recruitment Guide

These are just the missable characters; new characters who join in ways that are impossible to miss are not mentioned.
If a vanilla character is recruitable, their recruitment method is either the same as in vanilla or unmissable.

  • Ch. 4: Not a recruitment, but killing enemies in ch. 4 has no long-term consequences.
  • Ch. 7: Talk to Pablo with Eirika.
  • Ch. 8: Do the Ephraim-Eirika talk conversation, then have the resulting character talk to the berserker.
  • Ch. 8: Not a recruitment, but getting a Tirado battle conversation with one of your new characters will have an effect in a later chapter.
  • Ch. 9A: Amelia won’t show up in ch. 13E if missed in ch. 9, so recruit her here.
  • Ch. 9A: Talk to Binks with Eirika.
  • Ch. 13A: Don’t forget Cormag! (he’s still recruited via the vanilla method, this is just a reminder)
  • Ch. 14A: Don’t beat the map on turn 1.
  • Ch. 15A: Collect the wyrmslayer desert treasure. This is Eirika route-exclusive.
  • Ch. 20A: Talk to Eyechael with anyone.
  • Ch. 10B: Don’t beat the map before turn 6, and try to ensure the green cavaliers survive until then (if a specific one dies, you won’t get the recruitment).
  • Ch. 11B: Make sure to talk to L’arachel and Dozla, I don’t remember if they still automatically join at the end of the map.
  • Ch. 12B: Visit a certain village.
  • Ch. 12B: Follow the hints given to you at the start of the map. Be sure not to accidentally end the map before you’re ready!
  • Ch. 20B: Talk to Eyechael with anyone.

Some characters who are recruitable on Eirika route do not join on Ephraim route, and vice versa.

Changelog

11-08-25

  • Promoting to a certain class no longer decreases Moulder’s staff rank.

05-08-25

  • Someone else had attempted to improve enemy arena weapon scaling, but messed up, causing enemy arena weapons to never scale. This has been fixed.
  • Additionally, a weapon that was incompatible with arena combat has been removed from the arena weapon pool and replaced by a different weapon.

30-07-25

  • Fixed a bug I caused that made performing the Amelia-Franz recruitment conversation disable the Amelia-Gheb boss quote.
  • Fixed another bug I caused that made opening Tana’s door in Ephraim Ch. 9 cause the cavalier reinforcements that normally only spawn from opening the big door to appear.
