Description

Fire Emblem Legacy is an enhancement hack which sits as a side project in TheSmithPlays’ Pokemon Legacy Series. The Legacy games are designed with the philosophy of what is referred to as the “perfect” version of the game. This simply aims to imagine the game at its fullest potential with 20 years of retrospect.

This is achieved by balancing the game to be as optimized, engaging, and fleshed out as possible while still retaining its original identity. This involves quality of life changes, tons of balancing, small map tweaks, and many other small adjustments to make a vastly improved or “perfect within the confines of the original vision” version of the game.

Main Features

  • All Modes unlocked from the start
  • Many maps tweaked for better play
  • 3x Effectiveness on Effective Weapons restored
  • Weapon balance has been broadly improved. Weapon durability raised to reduce time spent in convoy
  • Allied Units balanced without losing their identity (i.e Lyn stays frail, Dorcas is slow, but both are now solid units)
  • Eliwood starts with Lances, Hector starts with Swords, Lyn starts with 6 Move
  • Enemy unit quality and growths have been vastly improved to ensure the difficulty now rises over the game
  • Lyn Hard Mode has been given hard mode bonuses and is now moderately challenging
  • Lyn mode units joining in the main story without a Lyn mode play through are balanced as if they had with higher levels
  • Wallace now comes with an Earth Seal instead of a Knights Crest on Chapter 9
  • Eliwood Hard Mode has been given hard mode bonuses and optimized to sit as an easier but still hard alternative to Hector Hard Mode. Think of it as something close to the typical ‘hard mode’ of most FE games.
  • Hector Hard mode has retains it’s original challenging, but not Lunatic level difficulty. Think of it as Hard+ but it now has an increasing difficulty curve into the late game, rather than completely falling off.

Other Features

  • Casual Mode option: units return next chapter if they die in battle
  • Pressing ‘A’ on a boss will now indicate whether they move to attack
  • Pressing ‘Select’ on the overworld displays enemy army attack range
  • Pressing ‘Select’ on a units stats page displays growth rates
  • Exclamation marks warn for effective weapons and killer weapons in the overworld
  • HP bars in the overworld show unit health when not at full HP
  • Toggle battle animation on by holding L when starting combat
  • Support rates grow much faster, but still won’t be achieved without intentionality
  • Promoted units have custom sprites to better reflect their official artwork
  • Normal mode promoted unit level raised from promotion at level 10 to 12
  • Hard mode promoted unit bonus lowered from promotion at level 20 to 16
  • Removed Nils level requirements for 19xx
  • Route Split on Four Fanged Offense: when level 50 lord requirement is achieved, you are now given option to go to the alternate Linus chapter, rather than being forced
  • Pale Flower of Darkness is now one large map with both bosses and recruitable units available. The map focus is Kenneth’s seize throne side, while Jerme’s side is optional to engage with.
  • Regardless of the Mode, Eliwood and Hector can both recruit Legault, Hawkeye, Karel, Nino, Vaida and talk to Pent
  • Dart and Karel receive Hard Mode Bonuses
  • Merlinus has a higher starting level
  • Hard mode deployment slots have been increased; most chapters that had lower deployment slots than normal mode have received at least +2 slots to more closely match normal mode. You can typically expect one less deployment slot than normal mode’s allotment.
  • Final map has been made harder and now features more familiar faces
