Description

Pokemon Venom Purple was created as a passion project in order to expand up 2D Kanto in a way to both bring in modern things such as Mega Evolution, Alola and Galarian Forms of Gen 1 Pokemon, while attempting to keep the game close to it’s Gen 1 roots. This is the first rom I have ever created, and the first of anything even remotely like it as well. The only Pokemon in this are Pokemon that either are Gen 1 Pokemon themselves,  evolutions of Gen 1 Pokemon, or regional forms of Gen 1  Pokemon with the exception of the Trainer Tower at the end of the game.

You can catch all of these Pokemon in the game, including the starters. Only authentic Pokemon are in the game (ie. no Fakemon). An attempt was made to make most Pokemon usable in some way, even if it is only niche, and to allow for more balance and greater availability of Pokemon throughout the game. Weaker Pokemon have received significant buffs, typically in the form of better access to them earlier in the game or better access to coverage moves or better moves in general.

The physical/special split is in the game. Pokemon level up learnsets have been redone in order to allow for cases uses of one Pokemon over a similar Pokemon, ie. Clefable and Wigglytuff are nearly identical for use, so made Wigglytuff a physical  attacker because Clefable’s is a special attacker. Another  example is the Oddish line was given greater access to Fairy  type moves since it is outclassed by Victrebel and Venusaur.  Nidorina can now breed as well.

Galarian and Alolan forms now can be found in certain areas such as Pokemon Gyms, and caught in the Sevii Islands. Certain Pokemon such as Cubone and Mime Jr. caught in the Sevii  Islands will evolve into their regional forms such as Alolan  Marowak and Galarian Mr. Mime. Some areas have been expanded upon. Viridian Forest now includes a small section called Poliwag Pond, a warehouse in Viridian City has Poison Pokemon, Mt. Moon has a deeper section you need Surf for with strong Moon Stone Pokemon.

A Mt. Moon Magma Chamber was added by Cerulean to access Fire Pokemon, Rock Tunnel includes a deep section at the end with Ice type Pokemon, Kanto Moltres has been moved to a new location called Mihara Volcano west of Viridian City, Galarian Moltres takes it’s place on Mt. Ember but is blocked until you beat the Elite 4. Altering Cave has been expanded and leads to a prairie with Galarian Zapdos, and the Lost Cave now features Galarian Articuno in a section added at the end. Mew can be caught in the Southern section of Seven Island.

New trainers have been added to various sections of the game and almost all trainer’s have had their teams expanded or reworked. Gym Leaders now can be rematched after beating the Elite Four with stronger teams, and the Elite 4 as well. Victory Road now includes type teams not represented in the Gyms as well as final forms of evolution lines not used in Gyms or the Elite Four, along with Mega Forms. Pokemon that evolve by methods requiring trades can evolve through either using the item needed to hold as an evolution stone, or via the Link Stone item evolution stone.

Some Pokemon, such as Umbreon and Espeon, now evolve with  evolution stones such as the Dusk and Dawn Stones respectively. The Mega Ring is given by Celio after returning the Ruby. The Celadon City Department has been greatly expanded to include berries to lower different EV values, increase EV values via the “Wing” items as well as the vitamins, as well as a NPC that can change the nature of a Pokemon of your choosing to a new random nature for free as many times as you wish (4F).

Abilties (including hidden abilties) may be changed of your existing Pokemon via the Ability Patch and Ability Pill items (3F). Rare types of PokeBalls including Apricorn Balls can be bought now (2F). Evolution Stones (Excluding Link Stones, found nearby Legendary Pokemon, and items such as Metal Coats) for sale now include more evolution stones like the Dawn Stone as well as Mega Stones (5F).
