Description

Berserk Emblem is a GBA ROM hack of Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones (FE8) that replaces the original cast and story with characters and lore from the Berserk manga/anime series. This has been a project LONG in the making. Working on and off for about 3 years. I set a hard goal to release it before the end of the year, so while it’s a little rushed and incomplete in places, I was determined to hit my target!! The gameplay/chapters are all complete and playable! Though there is a bunch of other work to do (events, portraits, probably bugs etc).

Features

  • Total Character Overhaul: Replaces the original Magvel cast with iconic Berserk characters, such as Guts (replacing Eirika) and Griffith.
  • Custom Graphics: Features new character portraits, custom battle animations designed specifically for this project, and updated map sprites.
  • Thematic Items & Magic: Standard healing magic is replaced with thematic items like bandages, and new unique weapons are added to suit the Berserk setting.
  • Modified Maps & Dialogue: Includes altered maps (e.g., “Zaha Woods” and “Adlas Plains”) and updated cutscene dialogue to reflect the new story.
  • Quality of Life (QoL) Improvements:
    • Danger Zone Display: Pressing the Select button on maps displays the global enemy threat range.
    • Growth Rate Viewing: Pressing Select on the status screen allows players to view unit growth rates.
    • Detailed HP Bars: Visible HP bars and warnings for units.
  • Difficulty Options: Offers multiple difficulty levels, including a Casual Mode where fallen units return after the chapter.
  • New Mechanics: Integrates modern fan-favorite systems such as Skill Scrolls and a revamped magic system with its own “Anima” triangle (Fire > Wind > Thunder > Fire). 

Known Bugs

  • Guts appears as Eirika sprite
  • Ch2 camera problems on cutscene
  • Ch4 title appears as “Zaha Woods”
  • Ch4 doesn’t complete until you end turn after routing
  • Ch6 healer doesn’t move
  • Ch7 title appears as “Adlas Plains”
  • Ch7 selecting formation offers unusable placement tiles
  • Ch7 defeating boss bugs out chapter (bolded because it hard stops the game, avoidable by not defeating him)
  • Ch11 Start event doesn’t play well
  • Ch12 Final wave camera bug
  • Ch14 Hero & Warrior strangely weak?
  • Ch14 Reyes doesn’t attack if not adjacent?
  • Ch15 Game needs to end properly
