Description

Ever wondered what would’ve happened if Lyon had been more proactive in his quest to destroy the Sacred Stones and didn’t just leave everything to his father and the generals? Wonder no further.

Features

  • Every playable character in the hack is a boss. Hurray.
  • …Well, sorta. To avoid having a tiny cast of like 24 playables, NPCs and monsters have been thrown into the mix, as well as background characters brought to life. In total, the roster comes up to 47 playable characters.
  • Naturally, with the bad guys on your side, it’s to be expected that you should now face all your favorite playables from FE8. Unlike last time, not a single one of them will escape unscathed. You’ll meet all of them on the battlefield, as well as a few NPCs where they fit.
  • 32 chapters of heavily overhauled Sacred Stones gameplay. Weapon stats, mechanics, fog (it’s gone), enemy formations and stats, merged routes, recontextualized maps… Pretty much every aspect of the game is touched up. I’d say it’s about as heavy as an overhaul can be!
  • Fully rewritten story. Follow Lyon as he leads his father’s legions in the conquest of Magvel, and watch as his heart grows colder and the darkness inside it stronger. Expect twists, turns, tragedy and occasional bits of comedy.
  • For the secondary roster, instead of your classic support conversations, sprinkled throughout the game are special conversations that characters can get. These can grant support levels, stat gains, items, nothing at all and more! Keep an eye out for them.
  • If you feel like you still want more after the campaign, Lagdou Ruins and the Creature Campaign mode have been repurposed into a fully-fledged postgame dungeon. Ever played the Valkyrie Profile series? This is basically the Seraphic Gate – a silly place full of meta humor and memes where anything goes.
  • I didn’t make any lords go insane/angsty/edgy this time around. I promise. Also Roy is in this hack!

Known Issues

  • If you promote too many units to distinct classes, the prepscreen will start to glitch out at the bottom. I’m not sure exactly how many different classes you can have before the glitch appears, but it’s possible to finish the main campaign without encountering it. Either way, it’s a merely visual issue, so I would recommend not letting it worry you too much.
  • In the postgame, under certain circumstances, the game might crash if you look at the status screen while on the world map. Be careful with that.
  • The main campaign has been exhaustively playtested and the postgame has also gotten a decent amount of testing. Skirmishes have been looked at by one tester, and I’m pretty sure the Tower of Valni is mostly uncharted territory.
That being said, there’s always stuff that slips through the cracks, so please keep an eye out for any possible problems (especially if you try going through the Tower) and do not hesitate to give me a shout if you encounter anything that seems out of the ordinary!

Changelog

V1.23

  • Fixed an issue where Boudicca would leave the party in chapter 29 under certain circumstances.
  • Fixed an issue where two doors shared completion flags in chapter 20.
  • Fixed the janky Rennac/L’Arachel event.
  • Fixed some glitchy tutorial events that remained in easy mode.
  • Fixed Boudicca not having assigned animations for the compact axe.
  • Fixed some conversations not having prompts in the chapter intro of chapter 26.
  • Fixed Morva not having the correct boss theme, which was incorrectly assigned to Artur. He gets to keep it as well because I think it’s funny.
  • Switched a few map themes around for slightly more variety.

V1.22

  • Fixed an issue where events that send all of a unit’s items to the convoy did not work properly if convoy was above 95 capacity. Thanks to Pushwall for finding the solution to this.
  • Fixed promoting to mage knight lowering Saaga’s staff rank. Doubles as a slight buff to mage knight (now gains D staves on promo instead of E)
  • Fixed an obscure oversight related to the new character added in v1.20.
  • Hopefully fixed issue where postgame would softlock if units are dead.
  • Applied QoL patch by ATHATH where Lyon holding the silver card applies the effect to the entire army.
  • Fixed a number of typos and text issues.
  • Easy mode is available again, repurposed into a “story mode” of sorts. Non-boss enemies are greatly weakened and casual mode is activated in this difficulty.

V1.21

  • Implemented a fix for one-sided supports. Thanks to ATHATH once more for providing the fix.
  • Fixed a potential softlock in chapter 23.
  • Implemented lighter map sprites for monsters to hopefully fix the map sprite issues.
