Description

This ROM hack is inspired by PokeTuber TyranitarTube’s EXTREME Randomizer series, except for the randomizer part, which I (ChocolateF9) don’t know how to do. If you’re unfamiliar with the EXTREME randomizer series, it’s a randomized Nuzlocke of a modded Pokémon game with a new story and special features. The series is known for its difficulty, usually because of strong enemy teams.

FireRed EXTREME is meant to be a fan game of the EXTREME series, featuring key elements of the series but with a different story from the original FireRed game. However, the stories in FireRed EXTREME and the EXTREME series are connected, although FireRed EXTREME is not considered canon to the series since it’s a fan game.

Story

The story was put together somewhat at the last minute, but I think it turned out pretty decent. Spoilers ahead! When Ho-oh saved and resurrected the three legendary beasts, a portion of its power spread around the Bell Tower, temporarily bringing back to life Pokémon that had died near the fire. These resurrected Pokémon were called ‘Sacred Pokémon’.

There were only a few ‘Sacred Pokémon’, but scientists managed to capture three of them and brought them to a lab for experimentation. They used the scattered power to make the ‘Sacred Pokémon’ very healthy. However, they decided to experiment further by using the power on other dead Pokémon that hadn’t been affected by Ho-oh’s presence. These experiments failed, resulting in the Pokémon becoming extremely aggressive and constantly in pain because they weren’t resurrected properly.

The three ‘Sacred Pokémon’ in the lab escaped during these attacks. That’s the story so far; we’re still in the early stages of development, so there’s not much planned out yet. There’s another category of Pokémon called ‘Mutated Pokémon,’ which are kind of like X-Men Pokémon. Also, be prepared for some 13-year-old jokes because we’re edgy and we spend all our days on our computers.
