Pokemon GD is a GBA ROM Hack by DukeFP based on Pokemon Fire Red in English. Pokemon GD (which stands for Growth and Development, however, I usually refer to it myself as Game Development...) is a rom hack of Pokemon Fire Red. It features Pokémon from Generation 1 - 8, the starter Pokémon are Phanpy, Grimer, and Cacnea, Physical/Special Split, Fairy Type, and much more!

You can download the Pokemon GD rom from this page and to play the game you need to download the Visualboy Advance Emulator here.

Description

Pokemon GD (which stands for Growth and Development, however, I usually refer to it myself as Game Development…) is a rom hack of Pokemon Fire Red. It features Pokémon from Generation 1 – 8, the starter Pokémon are Phanpy, Grimer, and Cacnea, Physical/Special Split, Fairy Type, and much more!

Story

As the player, you are on the ship S.S. Goldenrod, which has reached its final location, Phyor Island. You had to abandon your former Pokémon, sadly, as no passengers were allowed to take along Pokémon with them. One of the other passengers, Brendan, a kid from Hoenn, gets his Starter Pokémon from the strange, local Professor on board at the same time as you do, after you tried to leave the ship.

The player’s allowed to go out after Brendan tries his luck with his new Pokémon, but is then stopped by a shopkeeper in the local gatehouse, who wants you to bring the Upgrade ROM to the professor. He upgrades the Pokédex with it and gives it to you.

Features

  • Pokémon from Generations 1 through 8 (Note; NOT ALL OF THEM. This is not a full dex hack. There’s still a lot of Pokémon, yes, but you will not be able to encounter all of them.)
  • The starter Pokémon are Phanpy, Grimer, and Cacnea!
  • Physical/Special Split
  • Fairy type
  • DexNav(Planned)
  • Cacturne’s base stat total has been buffed to 500 to fall in line with Muk and Donphan.
  • The HM for Surf is the very first HM the player obtains. However, Surf’s base power has been lowered down to 50, so that the first gym doesn’t become a pain, nor the player gets to sweep the game once they unlock water types. Additionally, Bidoof, Cacnea, Phanpy, and Grimer have gotten the move Surf added to their move pools.

  • Added Extra Pokémon encounters and balancing…
  • You can now battle 3 of the megas(through trainers; Simisear, Simipour and… a secret one.)
  • You can now fight the fourth gym, the Steel-type gym led by Austen, and reach Ironsand Beach, where this gym is located.
  • You can now get the Old Rod. This was delayed for ages.
  • You can now, finally, breed Pokémon, once you obtain the TM for Flash in the lighthouse.
  • You can also now obtain ice types!
  • Flynn’s Pokémon have changed a little, and he has been entirely redesigned.
  • Fix of various visual things, including centering the title screen. Not centered here because I’m rushing out this post.
  • A rematch with the second gym leader, Boldo.

  • Slight improvements to prior areas.
  • Updates for Shrun Islet, a new route, a new town(Sidport)…
  • Very minor sprite updates for a few Pokémon, a major shading update for Anorith…
  • Miner trainer class
  • Removal of some of the “Lapras” placeholder NPCs in Ledhil.

V3.0

  • A lot of areas (Including Phyor Settlement, Phyor Crossing, Shrun Islet, Shrun Islet Gym and such) have ALL been altered and may softlock you into place. This is a major update due to the sheer scale this update has; it also alters the badge graphics and some small pieces of dialogue, and fixes some well known bugs(and probably introduces one new one).
  • Some encounter tables have gained a massive overhaul too!
