Changelog

22-02-26

NEW ADDITIONS

  • Pressing SELECT at the party menu allows to change party order, without going into the menu.
  • Added shiny icon display to Battle HUD.
  • When using TRANSFORM, it will copy shinyness/pinkness and gender. This is reflected in the Battle HUD.
  • Kantonese Ratatta and Raticate with Orangian colors can now be found during the day. They can’t no longer be found at night (only alolan forms will appear during nighttime).
  • After finishing the Shamouti events, the Shamouti mart will now sell some evolution items.
  • The Link Cord can now be used for all Pokémon that have link evolutions in the main games. Their own item (when applicable), can also be used. Example: Onix can evolve to Steelix using either a Link Cord or a Metal Coat.
  • Charity (Valencia island) has different teams depending on game progression. Can be battled multiple times for training EXP. She will reward a lucky egg after beating her with at least two badges.
  • Added NPC to Kinnow island which you can rebattle infinitely. Team changes with game progression. Team has a good STAT EXP spread for grinding EXP and STAT EXP.

MODERN TM/HM MODE:

  • Talk to assistant at Ivy’s lab to enable/disable modern TM/HM mode.
  • In this mode, as long as you got the corresponding TM or HM (i.e. SURF), you can use the field move, even if non of your party members knows the move.
  • For Headbutt, a flag is enabled after you talk with the move tutor for Headbutt. Afterwards you can use it without a Pokémon knowing the move.
  • For Flash, as long as you received the HM, all dark caves will be automatically lit.
  • For Fly, now when using the Town Map you will be asked to either Fly or consult the normal Town Map.
  • The Town Map can now be mapped to the SELECT button! If you already got the FLY HM, it will always run in Fly mode (to consult the normal map, access it from your bag, as always). Prior to getting FLY HM, mapping the Town Map to the SELECT button will run the normal Town Map.

HARD MODE

  • On new game you are asked to enable it or not.
  • Can be toggled at Valencia Island (same house as time reset).
  • You can check if it is on or off from the options menu.
  • You get 25% less experience
  • Trainers have STAT EXP (EVs)
  • No badges: no stat exp 1 badge: 1/4 stat exp 2 badges: 2/4 stat exp 3 badges: 3/4 stat exp 4 badges: full stat exp
  • Wild pokémon don’t have STAT EXP (EVs)
  • All trainers use the best AI. You can’t switch Pokémon. In hard mode only, you have a 1/64 chance to get POKÉRUS at Trovitopolis Sewers.

MUSIC UPDATES

  • Added music track for Cross encounters.
  • Fairy Wind animation now plays a windy sound effect.

GRAPHIC UPDATES

  • Better shiny sunkern and sunflora palettes to reflect modern shiny.
  • Added Kanto forms for Team Rocket (Raticate, Arbok, Weepinbell). They use those instead of the ones found in Orange Archipelago.
  • When using fly, the Pokémon icon in the Overworld will use its own color instead of default.
  • Mon icon will be the Pokémon’s color instead of default in the Town Map when using fly.
  • Grapefruit store map updated with a new graphical appearance and actual grapefruits on display.

BUGFIXES

  • Fixed grapefruit store.
  • Fix bug preventing Ho-Oh from appearing in the map if you leave the map right after beating Cross.
  • Fix shiny latios not loading personality value properly, preventing it being shiny.
  • Politoed fixed encounter wasn’t a forced shiny as intended. Master Rod Politoed in that map would always be shiny.
  • Tad’s Poliwrath could be found in the wild (Master Rod).
  • Fix trainer not getting correct base data for Pokémon with forms, resulting in wrong HP stat.
  • Fix bug preventing the first trainer Pokémon personality from being correctly loaded.
  • Fix certain Pokémon getting incorrect rod encounters in the Pokédex.
  • Spinda pokédex entry colors changed depending on the First Spinda seen, so its entry and any entry after it could be shiny or even pink until toggled again.
  • Fixed collision bug in Tarroco Island.
  • Fixed being able to surf in top a rooftop block in Shamouty Bay.
  • Pokémon icons weren’t shiny-colored when applicable in the nickname screen.
  • Hatch cycles were increased for Pokémon with odd egg cycles instead of being 1/4.
  • Fixed bug in which incorrect palette was shown when switching a Pokémon after the enemy faints.
  • A transformed Ditto would keep the transformed personality value instead of its own when caught.
  • Fix HoF not showing the propper form/shinyness/pinkness/gender for the 3r Pokémon (did not affect PC viewing).
  • Text fixes (typos).

TWEAKS

  • Tyrogue gift is also 25% shiny now.
  • Trovitopolis rooftop egg seller also reduces hatch cycles by 4, like breeding.
  • Trovitopolis rooftop egg seller now has a flat 25% of giving a shiny Pokémon Egg.

17-01-26

MAJOR

  • Hold SELECT when starting a NEW GAME and you will get the SHINY CHARM at the PLAYER’s PC.
  • The Pokédex area button can now show grass/cave/surf/underwater, vine/rocks and fishing encounters (each rod as a separate screen).
  • Pokémon Groomer and Happiness Rater added to Trovitopolis.

Rater has this sentence when happiness is >220 (evolution threshold): “It looks like the bond with your -POKEMON- is evolving!” Two massages available: > Deluxe: costs 1500, can be done once daily except on mondays and wednesdays. Increases happiness by 120. > Standard: costs 500, can be done infinitely, increases happiness by 30.

  • Added a special NPC battle after beating a certain NPC in Cleopatra Island, with a VERY special reward.
  • Added CHAMPIONBELT item. It is like METAL POWDER, but can be held by any Pokémon, not just DITTO. How to get it is a secret (clue: involves THIEF).
  • After beating the special NPC in Cleopatra Island, the Pummelo Gauntlet has a 50% chance of Drake showing up.
  • Hope (Ivy’s lab assistant) will award you the Pokédex completion diploma if you catch the 253 Pokémon in the game.
  • Added a hidden reward for collecting all Seashells. Certain NPC will give clues about missing Seashell locations.
  • When ROCK SMASH doesn’t trigger an encounter, you can find a HEART SCALE 25% of the time.
  • Added TYROGUE gift Pokémon to Mikan island. It has a 10% chance to be shiny.
  • Post-game battle gauntlet is now animated instead of just triggering battles at the Stadium Entrance.
  • Every time you check the TV (post-game), roamer shinyness is re-rolled. The roamer will be shiny in the Pokédex pop-up if that’s the case. If a roamer is already shiny, it won’t be re-rolled. When beating the post-game Pummelo Stadium gauntlet, they will be fully reset, thus any non-caught shiny will be gone.
  • Rock Smash encounters added to Trovita Island, Unnamed Island 1 and Tangelo Jungle. Unammed Island 1 has a 10% chance for both Shuckle and Stunfisk (Rock Smash exclusive Pokémon).

MINOR

  • Wild CHANSEY now has a 25% chance to hold a lucky egg.
  • All special trainer battles before the end-game and in the post-game now have held items.
  • Added Orange League Trophy to player’s room after beating the league.
  • You can now heal at the player’s bed.
  • Pokémon icons in the party menu now support form-dependent color.
  • Added new dialogues for the Orange Crew after you beat the Orange League.
  • Kecleon sprite will appear before fighting it.
  • In-game trade Pokémon can be shiny with a 1/16 chance. Gender is now random too (except for Alolan Meowth trade, it is always male by dev choice).
  • Added in-game clues to tell different vine tree apart (useful because they have different rare Pokémon).
  • Added flypoints to route 52 and route 67 Pokécenters for easier navigation.
  • Cave and overworld tileset slight improvement (notably the stairs leading to water in Crystal cave)
  • Improved scene before Drake’s battle at Pummelo Stadium.
  • Romaers will now be encounterable after beating Drake, even if you don’t check the TV (checking the TV registers the Pokédex seen entry, which allows tracking them).
  • In the Pokédex, hold SELECT and press the SHNY button to toogle forms when aplicable.
  • When the Pokédex page is shown on a new capture, the specific form you got (including shiny or pink) will be shown.
  • Crystal Onix will also respawn after beating Drake/Pummelo Gauntlet.
  • Restore screenshake animation when using rock smash, but only lasts 5 frames instead of vanilla’s 84.
  • Added little easter egg to Sunburst Island’s crystal shop.
  • The unused cave entrances in MandarinDesert and Route62 are now interconnected. This allows early access to SMOKE BOMB (previously end-game).
  • Made Shamouti Island’s shop an outside shop like the ones at Sunburst Island (for better immersion).
  • Version appears in the new game screen (format is build date – git commit hash)
  • DEBUG MODE: having a pokémon with the SKATEBOARD item in the first party slot will prevent wild encounters and automatically win all trainer battles. You get a Meowth with the SKATEBOARD in Valencia island.

GRAPHIC UPDATES

  • Made custom Pokécenter for Shamouti.
  • The PC Slouch NPC now has a upward direction sprite, so he now actually turns when talked from above.
  • Gyarados’ shiny has been reverted from gold to red.

  • Several backsprites showing wrong coloring have been corrected.
  • A lot of shiny palettes that were wrong have been corrected.

  • Valencia Island Pokémon palette changes:

Nidorino and Nidoking now use the same alternate color palette as Nidoran M. Nidorina and Nidoquee now use the same alternate color palette as Nidoran F. Kantonese Raticate has Valencia Island colors as in the anime. Kantonese Rattata has a different palette too. Paras and Parasect have a redder palette. Regional Ekans and Arbok sprites.

  • Many changes to the Pokémon Icon (mini sprites shown in menus) standard and shiny palettes, to better reflect correct coloring.
  • Magcargo is still intentionally gen 2 shiny colors. Machop line has modern colors now. ** Graveler and Raticate still have the same backsprite (palette change is enough for them).

BUGFIXES

  • Problems due to flag resets when beating the Pummelo Stadium Battle gauntlet should be no more. “Check How to fix an old savegame” if you have and old save.
  • Old Man in Trovitopolis (check the “How to fix an old savegame” section) could give aditional Rainbow Wings if the player deposits it in the PC. Key items (except Shiny Charm) can’t no longer be deposited in the PC, preventing this issue.
  • Lugia/Articuno/Zapdos/Moltres should now be correctly re-batteable when beating the post-game battle gauntlet.
  • Fixed kantonese forms in trainer battles not having the propper stats (most notably typing).
  • Wild Pokémon with forms were not getting its base stats properly loaded even if the form was correct (most notably typing).

  • Female player character didn’t have propper fishing sprite, leading to visual “glitches” when fishing.

  • Poliwrath no longer crashes the game when used in battle.
  • Fixed crash when loading Magikarp’s or Spinda ‘s backsprite’s.
  • For some reason, the different form Magikarp backsprites were unused.
  • Fixed romaers (Latias and Latios) not correctly handling the personality byte (this affected shinyness)
  • Shiny Charm wasn’t working as intended.
  • Change Mandarin Underground – Entrance music to the same as the other floors to prevent music restarting every time you warp (the music played is very similar in any case).
  • Tracey’s name won’t shown in the first battle, as he introduces himself after you battle him.
  • A trainer in Route 57 north could walk on water when engaging the player.
  • Some grammar errors were corrected.
  • NPC at the Pokémon Center couch now turns his head when talking to him from above (new sprite).
  • Name Rater did not show the correct Pokémon icon palette (shinyness wasn’t accounted for, it depended on the last seen Pokémon).
  • Move deleter Pokémon icon could have wrong palettes due to the game not loading the overworld palettes in this instance.
  • When using the elevator the screen would shake twice due to a bug.
  • Pokémon with forms couldn’t learn some moves from tutors/TM/HM unless they were in the first party slot in some cases.
  • Kantonese Pokémon and Alolan Sandshrew/Sandslash didn’t have TM, HM or Tutor Move learnsets.
  • It is now possible to use FLY at MT. NAVEL’s Peak.
  • Kanto’s map can no longer be accessed in the Pokédex AREA button after entering the HoF.
  • Fix overworld visual glitch when cutting grass. This needed some tile swappin in some tilesets.**
  • Pokémon icons in the party menu now have proper palettes (a lot, specially shiny Pokémon, had wrong colors). Modified some sprites to better represent the Pokémon.
  • Hall of Fame now correctly displays gender, form, shinyness and pinkness (none of this was previously stored).*
  • If using an old savegame, old HoF entries will show random shinyness, pinkness, gender and form. ** Unlike in gen II, long grass can’t be cut. This is not a bug.
