Description

Pokemon Scrambled Emerald is a GBA port of Pokemon Scrambled Scarlet by Dooz. It’s actually an Egglock rom hack, you don’t have a starter, and your starter is an egg.

Features

Balancing

  • Majority of moves reimagined and reworked to fit into categories and roles (see move sheet, its organized very thoroughly to be easy to understand)
  • Every single Pokemon has been reimagined- given careful love and care to ensure they are good for the WHOLE GAME, unique, fun to use, and that they do not overlap with one another- all while still making sense flavor/logic-wise.
  • Balanced for ingame, not competitive play
  • Balanced for Teamlocked nuzlockes specifically, not casual play (you can play casually, but for more experienced players teamlocked would be good to try)
  • Things may seem “broken” or “too strong” but the overall power level of my hack is very consistent, and all comes together in a very balanced way.
  • Keep in mind these buffs were all designed with Teamlocked Nuzlockes and replaying multiple times in mind, where you keep a team of 6 and try to prevent them from dying as much as possible, and only add new team members if a current one dies.
  • All Pokemon get special attention, love and care- and I mean a LOT of it.
  • I try very, very hard to make all of the buffs/changes make LOGICAL sense and fit with the flavor of the Pokemon. This is subjective to some extent but I always have plenty of reasoning/rationale for changes and think about them a lot- probably too much.
  • Overall power levels, BST benchmarks and more are higher with 480 being the “minimum” for fully evolved mons outside of a few exceptions- BST I have rules for but its still arbitrary in terms of how good a mon is or not. 600 bst guys are not inherently better than 480 BST. I put careful effort to ensure all the mons are good forever thanks to moves and ability synergies changing as the game progresses etc
  • Moves are all entirely reworked to be useful, fit into categories, overall way better and stronger moves as a whole and is a HUGE part of how the game functions.
  • All Pokemon get 3 fitting, useful abilities that can be cycled between each other
  • Mons get tons of options as a whole and are all fun to use and good from beginning to end
  • No “box checks” no “bad encounters” nothing “falls off” or “scales poorly”
  • EVERY SINGLE POKEMON IS GOOD FROM THE SECOND YOU CAN GET THEM UNTIL THE VERY END OF THE GAME. YOU’RE SUPPOSED TO USE WHAT POKEMON YOU LIKE, OR POKEMON YOU WOULDN’T NORMALLY USE- AND STRATEGIZE WITH THE TOOLS YOU GET.

Teamlocked

  • Team of 6 from the start, NO swapping team members unless one dies
Don’t sack just to add new team members
  • Every mon has so many tools that you won’t ever need to do that
  • *You’re supposed to bond more with your Pokemon this way and care about them individually*
  • You probably WILL have deaths, and will likely use anywhere from 1, 2 or even 3 dozen Pokemon per run depending how knowledgeable/skilled you are, you can even have less
  • You’re encouraged to strategize and use all the tools you have available to their fullest extent

Replay value

  • Game is designed to be replayed over and over with different teams, hence teamlocked
*5 different versions of the game with different boss order/fights*
  • Ease of travel with pre-loaded save file having fast-travel unlocked and bike upgrades
  • Ease of getting mons with eggs in PC
  • Everything is super quick and easy to do (TM purchasing, items, EVs, candies, etc)

Eggs

  • Egglocke style hack where encounters are on a pre-loaded save/you can load them yourself using PkHex, Eggs are included with the mod
  • Wild encounter editing is absurdly tedious and nuzlocking would not work properly since the map is open world and Pokemon only spawn in the overworld (no random encounters)
  • So to fix that issue, encounters are now eggs spaced out into tiers which unlock with beating bosses

Difficulty

  • Mons get SO many tools and are much more versatile compared to normal hacks/games
  • 3 customizable abilities at any time
  • 200 TMs and tons of levelups with INFINITE move relearner
  • Instant and easy EV training items to swap EVs at will quickly
  • Majority of moves are changed so you have many tools on your team available at all times
  • Items unlock as you go and give even more flexibility
  • Understand how the AI works, and go from there
  • Pathing/prepping is key to minimize death

Intended Rules

  • Teamlocked (duh)
  • No using healing items or anything (duh)
  • Item Clause
  • Tera types = RNG’d
  • Nature = RNg’d
