Description

Pokémon Purple Version 2 was created as a sort of fourth version deal to Gold, Silver, and Crystal, an enhanced version, basically. This does not feature any new Pokémon, moves, or types. Indeed, type matchups work exactly the same as they do in the base game, and all moves function as they do in Gen 2, for better or worse. Get ready to leap into the world of Pokémon, to take Johto by storm with a Koffing by your side! See the familiar story told as never before, and experience my alternate take on the classic games!

Features

• Well, first off, you can play as a girl if you so choose! You are given this choice from the moment you hit New Game. And no, naming yourself Jessie does not change your sprite to Jessie from Team Rocket. Sorry, Heather.
• You have Running Shoes baked right in from the very start, and can run by holding B. But that’s not all- this also lets you speed up while riding the Bicycle!
• In his old age, Professor Elm only has three Pokémon left, and in Pokémon Purple Version, they’re all Koffing! Which one you choose has little bearing on how anything unfolds, but Staraptor-eyed players might notice very minor details on repeat playthroughs if they pick a different Koffing. In any case, this means your rival is also forced to start his journey with a Koffing, and he is none too pleased about this. And don’t you worry- all Pokémon have had their movepools suitably altered to account for their availability in the game, as well as what I consider to be plain common sense, so you’re not just stuck with Tackle and Smog for like thirty levels. Most every Pokémon has seen some degree of improvement in this area, so don’t be afraid to try stuff out that you might have overlooked in the past!
• Pokémon Purple Version 2 features all new Pokédex entries, some of which even span three pages as opposed to the usual two. Be on the lookout to references to fan theories, the Pokémon anime, future games, and the like, as you complete your Pokédex! And yes, it is possible to complete your Pokédex without trading!
• A majority of the NPCs have changes made to their dialogue. Some are minor, but others can be completely different to what you remembered from Red and Blue! Be sure to talk to everybody- some NPCs even have helpful hints about secrets that certainly were not present in the originals!
• And it’s not just the dialogue that’s different- Most enemy Trainers will come at you with different teams than you remember them having in Red and Blue! In some areas, there will even be a Trainer with a well-trained team of six! Take care when traversing the Kanto region!
• And beyond even just the dialogue changes, some of the text has been changed as well, like when you encounter a wild Pokémon.
