Pokemon Ruined Red ROM

Pokemon Ruined Red is a difficulty-focused ROM hack designed for players who want a tougher, more strategic Gen 1 experience without changing the feel of the original game. The visuals, soundtrack, Pokémon roster, story, and atmosphere remain faithful to the original game. Instead of reinventing Pokémon Red, this project introduces a collection of small but meaningful gameplay changes that increase the challenge, with some additional powerful enemies. 

There are no selectable difficulty modes. The single intended experience is a challenge for an adult familiar with the games, but not necessarily anything that came after Gen3 (or Gen 1 really). In the post-game, players can travel to a new island and uncover the secrets of a powerful criminal blackmail operation.
